Leo’s Clan – Paraty part 2

January 20, 2018December 4, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

I found my hostel in Paraty after reading several blogs. Leo's Clan Hostel, located right across the bridge from the historic center and only three blocks front the beach, seemed like the perfect spot to enjoy paradise. When I arrived, the staff was super friendly, there was a lovely and clean rooftop pool, and a … Continue reading Leo’s Clan – Paraty part 2

Paraty

January 20, 2018March 12, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

This small colonial gem located on the verde coast is a must visit. Not only is the place picturesque, but also has some stunning beaches, plenty of outdoor activities, and some of the freshest sea food you will ever eat. Trust me, this is one place in Brazil you will not want to miss. The … Continue reading Paraty

My favorite day: Foz do Iguaçu Brazil

January 16, 2018March 12, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

I have traveled to many countries in my short lifetime. I have seen some wonders of the world. I have had my breath stolen from my very chest seeing beauty that truly makes you believe in something extraordinary. Foz do Iguaçu is one of those places. It easily makes one of my top favorite travel … Continue reading My favorite day: Foz do Iguaçu Brazil

Rio Must Do: Parque Lage

January 15, 2018March 12, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

My hostel was steps away from the famous Parque Lage, and I must say it was one of my favorite things to see in Rio. Entrance is free and not only do you get to see this luscious and wild garden filled with jungle trees and palms, ponds, and flowers, but you also get to … Continue reading Rio Must Do: Parque Lage

Nights Out with Gabriel

January 14, 2018March 12, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

I was talking with some friends right as school got out and stumbled upon the knowledge that my friend, Gabriel, would also be in Rio at the same time as me! This was wonderful news! Not only had he lived in Rio AND speaks the Portuguese language, but Gabriel is a true high-ho good time. … Continue reading Nights Out with Gabriel

Vista Chinesa

January 14, 2018March 12, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

What does one do when one's legs hurt like the devil after a long hike the day before? Go on a new hike, duh! I asked the hostel people where a single female hiker could go and still be safe in Rio. Vista Chinesa was the answer. So I immediately checked the internet to confirm … Continue reading Vista Chinesa

Mis-TRANS-lation: A Bus Adventure

January 11, 2018March 12, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

Once again, the Rio transportation got the best of me. I was supposed to be heading to climb a mountain in Gavea and instead ended up on the right bus but in the opposite direction. Whoops. I figured that like the Uruguayan system, what goes one way must come back. It would be a great … Continue reading Mis-TRANS-lation: A Bus Adventure

Christ Redeemed

January 11, 2018March 12, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

Come to Rio and you cannot leave without seeing the statue of Christ the Redeemer up close and personal. It is one of the main symbols of Rio and it is truly spiritual - And this coming from a non-spiritual person. Both the path up and the experience at the top is well-worth it all. … Continue reading Christ Redeemed

Recap: Rio First Day Top Eight

January 11, 2018March 12, 2018 / mscoyleabroad / Leave a comment

I know it has been a while since I have posted a blog. As most of my friends begrudgingly know from my unashamed sending of myriad beach pictures...it's SUMMER in South America. So the beach and porch sitting and rooftop parties have been a little more appealing than writing. But I promise to recap a … Continue reading Recap: Rio First Day Top Eight

Katie’s Birthday Weekend

A weekend away to celebrate KatieFebruary 15th, 2019
I get a weekend away from Montevideo to celebrate Katie's birthday with all of my favorite people!
Because sometimes you need some reality on Instagram. The baldness continues after five chemo sessions. But every strand of hair is a remind that it’s working. I’ll shave it off eventually, but for now I’m rocking my Aunt Susie’s look from the 90s. #teachabroadcoyle #vamoarriba #whatsunderthescarf #baldgirl
